Oxycardium Variegated Plant (1pc)

Water only when the top 2 inches of soil have completely dried out, reducing the frequency slightly during cooler winter months to protect its roots from waterlogging.

It requires consistent bright, filtered light to maintain its creamy variegation patterns, as low light will cause the leaves to revert to solid green while direct sun can scorch the foliage.

The foliage contains sharp calcium oxalate crystals that cause mouth swelling, intense oral pain, drooling, and vomiting if ingested by cats or dogs.

The Oxycardium Variegated Plant (1pc) (botanically known as Philodendron hederaceum 'Brasil' or Variegated Heartleaf Philodendron) is an energetic, eye-catching upgrade to the classic green cultivar. This single potted specimen stands out for its multi-toned foliage, where every leaf features artistic, painted brushstrokes of lime green, soft cream, and golden yellow running down the center of deep emerald-green hearts. Whether trained to climb a moss pole or left to spill freely from hanging planters, it brings an instant tropical vibe to any indoor space.

Full Description:

Foliage and Variegation: Features glossy, heart-shaped leaves with distinct, variable markings. The center of each leaf typically displays vibrant splashes of chartreuse, lime, and creamy yellow bordered by rich forest green. Pinkish-orange petioles and delicate young stems provide an additional pop of warm color as new leaves unfurl.

Growth Habit: An enthusiastic, fast-growing vine that climbs or trails with ease. It produces aerial rootlets along its stem nodes, allowing it to cling readily to supports or cascade in lush, flowing ribbons of multi-toned foliage.

Light Requirements: Performs best in medium to bright, indirect sunlight. Good ambient light is crucial for maintaining crisp, high-contrast variegation; in low-light spots, the plant may produce mostly solid green leaves to compensate. Shield it from harsh, direct afternoon sun to avoid scorching the delicate, lighter sections of the leaves.

Watering: Requires moderate watering. Water thoroughly when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch, and allow the excess to drain completely. It handles occasional missed waterings well, but will show leaf yellowing if allowed to sit in waterlogged soil.

Soil Mix: Thrives in a loose, airy, and free-draining potting substrate. A chunky blend of cocopeat, perlite, vermicompost, and orchid bark prevents compaction and keeps root systems well-aerated.

Temperature and Humidity: Prefers warm indoor environments between 18°C and 30°C. It adapts effortlessly to normal household humidity, though higher humidity levels encourage larger leaf growth and faster trailing.

Care Level: Exceptionally easy to grow and highly beginner-friendly. Periodic trimming of vine tips helps prevent leggy stems and stimulates dense, multi-stem growth from the crown.

Toxicity: Like all philodendrons, it contains calcium oxalate crystals and is mildly toxic to pets and humans if chewed or ingested. Keep safely elevated on high shelves or hanging hooks away from curious pets.

Uses:

Hanging Planters: Creates an eye-catching cascade of colorful foliage when displayed in suspended baskets or macrame hangers.

Moss Poles & Trellises: Train the vines upward on a support to encourage significantly larger leaves and a vertical green pillar effect.

Floating Shelves & Bookcases: Let the vines spill over shelf edges to soften furniture lines with bright, living color.

Natural Air Purifier: Filters household airborne toxins, contributing to a cleaner, fresher living space.

Benefits:

Dynamic Variegated Aesthetic: Every single leaf features a unique pattern of green, lime, and gold.

Adaptable & Resilient: Forgiving of minor neglect, making it ideal for novice plant owners and busy lifestyles.

Rapid Growth: Readily establishes roots and puts out vigorous new vines during warm growing seasons.

Effortless Propagation: Stem cuttings root quickly in water or moist soil, making it easy to multiply your collection.
